Faith entered the library gingerly on Monday morning. The weekend had been crap. Possibly the crappiest in a real long time. Friday night had been the biggest bust. The fight with Buffy and then an even bigger fight. She’d let her problems take over her mind and gotten jumped by four very large and very pissed vamps. She’d handled it, of course she had, but she’d also got beaten on whilst she did it. In the end she had spent most of her time in bed or at Giles’. She hadn’t rang Buffy. Didn’t know how to make it right. So didn’t even try.

She’d spoken to Giles, sought his understanding on the situation. He hadn’t been the most supportive though, seeming to believe that Buffy was right to have been hurt, that Faith couldn’t expect her to sit by and watch voyeur like as she got her kicks from flirting.

He’d lectured her on love and respect and what that meant. She’d nodded without understanding… love and respect were never things she had been taught. She knew her feelings for Buffy were strong, the strongest, but she wasn’t sure what to do with that. What it meant past the need to posses, to touch, to consume. She wanted to learn though, needed to learn, because if that’s what it took to keep Buffy, then she was willing to do anything.

Entering the library now and being met by stony faces was breaking her resolve though. She felt unsure and uncertain, desired only the wish to run.

“Oh look, it’s the one woman fighting machine! How goes it Faith… neutered any men lately?”

Faith ran her eyes over Xander, hostility creeping to the surface. “Shut up Xander, not in the mood.” She threw herself into the chair opposite Buffy, not risking taking a glance.

“Great! Two tetchy slayers… must be an epidemic.”

Xander studied the two sullen girls, it seemed neither of them were in the mood for fun, both of them fixed with expressions of thunder, eyes fixed firmly to the table top.

“And I’ll just be quiet then.”

“Very good Xander…” Giles took the moment to convene the meeting. He was aware of the tension between the slayers and the cause of it. It troubled him but wasn’t his number one concern. The vampires that Faith had fought the other night were not random vamps looking for dinner, they had been part of a larger order long thought extinct, apparently here looking for an amulet, something to restore their former leader to glory. “…thank you for all making the time to get here early.”

They all rolled their eyes at him, like they really had a choice!

“Now I don’t know if you’re all aware, but Faith had a rather nasty run in on Friday night with…”

“Three meat heads from hell?”

“Xander be quiet!”

Giles scolded the boy with both his voice and his eyes. He wouldn’t allow for petty interruptions.

“As I was saying… she had a run in with four vampires, and did very well to combat the threat on her own…” he let his eyes run over all of the Scoobies, letting them know he wasn’t best pleased that Faith was left to slay alone. “…I’ve spent the weekend researching the vampires, and my conclusions indicate that they are searching for an amulet, a way to raise their former leader to past glory.”

“So we find it first and end the threat. Right?”

“Well hopefully things will be that simple Buffy, yes.” He turned his focus back to Faith. “If you could enlighten everyone Faith as to the situation that occurred on Friday night?”

She still didn’t choose to raise her eyes, could imagine the glares that were being tossed her way, didn’t need to see them for real. “Was walking home, got jumped, got beat down, kicked ass, went home, passed out…” Her tone was flat, devoid of anything. “…that do ya Giles?”

“Are you ok?”

Her surprise at Buffy’s words forced her to raise her gaze. She hadn’t expected concern, especially not from her. “Five by five B…” She offered a lopsided grin, allowed a little of her pain to show in her eyes. “…took a hell of a hit to the head, probably needed it…” Now her expression changed to regret. Apology. “…what about you B? Are you ok?”

Buffy took a deep breath. Was she ok? She didn’t feel it. She hurt on the inside, had took a few hits of her own. Seeing Faith in pain though, it made things not matter so much. Yes she was pissed, yes Faith had some making up to do. But that didn’t change things, didn’t change how she felt, didn’t stop her heart from caring.

“I’m getting there…” She offered a small smile, an ‘everything’s gonna be ok’ smile. “…I was worried when ya didn’t call though, I thought you would?” It was said as a question. She had felt slightly wounded when Faith hadn’t been on the phone first thing Saturday to make amends.

“I… sorry. I really did pass out ya know? And then when I came round Saturday night I just felt like crap…” she snuck a thankful look Giles’ way. “…watcher man patched me up and ordered me back to bed…” her eyes now bore into Buffy’s, begging her almost to just believe her. “…I WAS thinking about you though. All the time.”

“For real?”

“For real.”

The library had fallen silent, everyone’s attention unwittingly drawn towards the two girls. It was impossible not to miss that something was occurring, that for them, everything except the other had ceased to exist. Xander was the one to break the peace and shatter the moment.

“I guess this explains the ‘girlfriends’ comment then, hey guys?”

“Xander! Buffy… what’s going on?”

Willow was confused. Yes she had accepted that Faith was an… enigma. But Buffy? When did she get quite so… enigmatic? She had wondered maybe. A little. But really? She glanced across to her boyfriend, hoped to share her confusion, but as was the way he seemed almost uninterested. Like he’d already known. She turned her focus back to her best friend, waited on her answer.

“Wills I…” I what? She was even less sure of what was going on with her and Faith then she had been the other day. Didn’t have a clue how to begin to phrase it all to her friend. “…I erm…me and Faith…”

“You? And Faith?”

“Right… well we…” she looked towards Faith now, hoped for inspiration, received only raised eyebrows and a shrug of the shoulders. “…I think that, well I guess that there’s something going on there…” she let out a little giggle that betrayed her nervousness. “…and I was going to tell you, but I didn’t know what to say… me and Faith haven’t really discussed it, and I didn’t wanna freak ya…” she softened her voice, appealed to Willow. “…you’re not freaked are you?”

“Not freaked..? Not freaked?”

“Not freaked.”

Buffy turned her eyes to the voice, smiled appreciation.

“Thank you Oz.”

“Hey! What about me Buff? Guys? Don’t I get to be freaked?”

Xander was trying hard to take it all in. Was taking it in and getting hard. It was probably the most exciting thing that had ever happened in his universe.

“Are you Xander? Freaked out?”

He tried his best at adopting Faith’s sexy grin, sexy eyebrows. “Certainly freaked out…” He blew sexy and flushed red. “…but only in the good way!”

“Thank you. I think.” she turned her attention back to Willow, wanted to be sure that her best friend was okay, that this wouldn’t change things. “Wills..?”

“Me..? Right. No… I mean, I guess it makes sense right? With the not wanting to come for ice cream, and all the Faith talk… and the slaying, I guess that gives you something in common? Not that it’s all you’ve got in common, you’re both girls! That’s something else… both girls together, doing the girl thing…”

“Breathe Wills.”

“Uh-huh… cos breathing’s good.”

She felt like she might hyperventilate… she wasn’t freaked. Really. Maybe freakily surprised… a lot. But not freaked. She regained some sort of composure and smiled goofily at her friend.

“I bet it beats the low fat yoghurt… yeah?”

Giles beat Buffy to speak next. There were things to discuss!

“If we could tear our attention away from Buffy’s late night eating habits I assume it would be safe to get back to the demon problem?”

“I dunno Giles, I kinda wanna hear about Buffy’s late night eating habits…”

“Well Xander, I’m sure she’ll be delighted to fill you in after the meeting.”

He cast a sympathetic gaze at his oldest slayer. He appreciated that it was hard for her sometimes to be a slayer, to have so much weight upon shoulders so young. But he was proud of her, she was a wonderful young woman, and the way she found the bravery to so openly admit to her feelings for Faith only increased his good opinion further. He hoped that her friends really would be as accepting as they seemed. Both of the girls deserved it. Deserved happiness.

He went over everything that he knew concerning the vampire cult. Directed his slayers to patrol an old family crypt that evening and hopefully retrieve the amulet. He wasn’t in the mood for anything apocalyptic at the moment, the children were nearing the end of the school year, graduation and the like, and he wished everything to go off without a hitch. He knew wishes weren’t always granted, but he had his fingers crossed for this one.

Buffy was putting the finishing touches to her slaying outfit. It felt weird dressing up to kill the dead, but she had a reason to. Faith was going to be with her and she wanted to be sure to make an impression, to look good for her girl. And Faith WAS her girl. She felt sure of it. At school they had grabbed a little time together, not much, not enough, but a little. The little needed to put fears to rest, to assure that they both still felt the same, both still wanted the other, needed the other.

And now she was just waiting for Faith to come get her. For the doorbell to ring. It didn’t disappoint.

“BUFFY!”

Her mom’s holler carried her down the stairs and deposited her in front of Faith. All leather and danger and hotness and sex just emanating from her every pore.

“Hey B, you’re looking good… you got something special planned for tonight?” She accompanied her comments with the typical look, typical hunger.

“Faith… no, I just fancied dressing up, it’s my plan to distract the vampires…” she now took the time to run her eyes appreciatively over Faith’s form, relishing in the leather and danger and hotness and sex. “…although with the way you’re looking, I don’t think I needed to make the effort.”

The younger girl accepted the compliment well, did a little twirl to show off exactly how hot she was all over, raising her arms up and arching her back. She wanted to give a show, wanted to steal Buffy’s breath. It was certainly working.

“God… you are SO hot.”

“Buffy!”

“Mom… you’re still there, and you’re listening…” embarrassment tinged her face as she looked to her mom. She had been lost in Faith. It was a nice place to lose yourself. “…I’m just gonna go now, slaying.”

“Be careful girls, and don’t be late!”

“Mom!”

“Buffy it’s a school night, now I know that saving the world is important, but so are grades! I don’t think colleges will accept slayage as a reason to fall short on the grades… do you?”

Buffy slumped her shoulders in defeat. “No mom, believe me, I’m more then aware how much what I do doesn’t matter… I won’t be late. My school career is safe. We can all sleep easy.”

Her mom drew her in and kissed her forehead, offered a little smile. “It matters to me Buffy.”

She watched as they walked away down the street, admonished herself for worrying, but just couldn’t help it. She could see the closeness between them and was glad for it, what her daughter had to do, the things she had to face… she would be eternally grateful if she didn’t have to face it alone.

As for the two girls in question they were making plans to face the things they had to face. They knew which crypt they were heading towards and were both hoping that it would be an easy grab. Just an amulet without the company. No such luck.

They had realised that they were too late from the minute they had gotten there, seen the vampires leaving the crypt, seen them disappearing down a man hole. Into the sewers. It didn’t fill them with joy. But it also didn’t deter them.

“I guess it seems a shame to have dressed up now, hey B?”

“I did hope I’d be able to wear the outfit more then once… and these shoes? They get ruined I’m suing the council.”

They walked slowly to the sewer entrance, gave each other an encouraging smile.

“Ladies first?”

“I think you’re still a lady Faith, definitely the last time I checked… you want to go first? Fine by me.”

She stood back as Faith did indeed disappear down the hole, swallowed by the darkness. She didn’t waste time waiting to follow, she was there in an instant.

The Vampires were ready for them. They attacked as soon as the girls landed, slicing through the air with ritualistic swords, looking to remove limbs, to end lives. The girls were slayers though and fought back with incredible force, each blow landed on them was dished back with extra included, it was fun, it was what they were built for. They hollered a war cry with every beast dusted and soon it was only silence that engulfed them. The only two left standing.

“Holy fuck B, intense fighting…” she flexed her muscles as she stood upright, stretched out her back. “…I’m wicked hungry, you wanna get some ribs?”

“Hungry..? Uh-huh.” Buffy allowed her eyes to survey the other girl, to claim back what was hers. They hadn’t kissed since their fight, had only spoken words to repair damage, and now Buffy was aching for more. Needed a kiss, needed some release from the tension she was feeling inside. “Come here.”

She whispered the words, Faith heard them.

“What’s up B? You hungry for something else?” she stalked the girl, her hands reaching out as soon as she was close enough, enveloping her in an embrace, her lips seeking out Buffy’s to bring them together in a kiss.

Their lips met softly at first, Faith still caught in making an apology, making Buffy feel better, but soon enough they demanded more. Demanded that tongues enter the arena, that lips were crushed instead of caressed.

They broke apart both wearing the same self satisfied smile.

“Much better then ribs.”

“You think?”

“Definitely…” she picked up the amulet that had fallen to the floor, tucked it in the seat of her leather pants. “…you wanna get this to Giles, or you in the mood for dessert?”

Buffy considered the options, considered everything she had spent the weekend thinking about. She had made a couple of decisions, a few things that she thought Faith might not enjoy hearing, but that she had decided upon. Would insist upon.

“Look Faith… about dessert…”

“You want it, don’t ya?”

“No!… well yes, but no!…” she took a second to try and organise her words, it was as hard as trying to organise her thoughts. “…I just think that after the other night, I think it might be best to not go crazy with the dessert right now.”

“Not go crazy with the dessert..? Does that mean what I think it means?” She hoped it didn’t. “I think I might go crazy without dessert B.”

“No you won’t! Much. I just think it’s for the best… I need to know Faith that this is real for you… I can’t let myself fall for you and then have it trampled on, I just can’t…” she reached out and took Faith’s hand, shared her warmth. “…I’m kinda crazy about you ya know? Not just the dessert you… but all of you, I need to know that you’re crazy about me too, not just dessert me. Is that ok? Can you do that?”

She didn’t want to. Well she did… but NO dessert!?! She’d starve. But for Buffy..? She had decided she would do anything to keep her, and if no dessert was what it took… then yes. At least for now.

“I can do that.” she smiled her best smile, it was kind of like the angelic one she offered to parents, she wanted Buffy to believe her. And she did. She knew because of the smile she gave back, the way she reached up and placed the softest of sweetest kisses against her lips, took her hand in hers and made to leave the sewer.

She had to ask though, wouldn’t have been Faith if she didn’t ask.

“So this no dessert then… how long ya looking to do that for?”

“Faith!”

“What B? I’m just curious… for health reasons.”

“Until I’m sure.”

“Sure of what?” she thought she knew, just needed it confirmed, needed to know what her task was, what her plan should be.

“That I’m your girl Faith. Your only girl, or guy, or anything. That you can give up free and easy to be with me.” Buffy meant every word. She wasn’t prepared to sit back and admire the Faith show anymore, she wanted the Faith show to be just for her from now on.

“You are my girl B, I don’t need rationing to prove that, I know it now. I promise.”

“Prove it.”

She reached her lips up to kiss again. To silence any protest that Faith may have had. It would be hard to not just give into her, she wanted her, so badly. Wanted to feel her all over her. Wanted her body pressed up against her, pressed inside of her. But she wouldn’t give up. It was important to her that Faith understood that their relationship was about more, meant more. To her it meant everything.

Romancing a girl was hard. Romancing a girl was fucking hard! Faith was beginning to understand why she hadn’t done it before. Buffy was turning out to be a hard nut to crack. She knew that she wanted her, it was always apparent… from the glances, to the full on looks of lust. It was all there. All the time. But she wouldn’t give in.

Their relationship had progressed from the full on fuck fest of the first few hours, to an almost chaste relationship that left much in the way of frustration. Yes they kissed. They kissed constantly, they could probably win awards for the length of time they spent with their lips locked together, but that was all. If Faith looked to carry it further, looked to seek release from the constant tension that had settled over her, then Buffy just offered her wide eyes of apology, spoke the words about needing to be sure. Faith wondered silently if it would be enough when she exploded through sheer desperation. It wouldn’t be long, SHE was sure of that.

She’d been on her best behaviour as well. Hadn’t so much as glanced in anyone else’s direction, hadn’t danced with anyone, was so focused on her goal that she had almost given up speaking to anyone else. It was a situation that hadn’t gone unnoticed amongst the group of friends. They kind of knew what was going on… knew that Buffy had issues with Faith’s flirting skills, knew that she was all ‘withholdy gal’ at the moment.

They were lounging on the sofa’s at school now discussing the present situation. Pestering Buffy for the latest updates, asking how long it would be until they saw Faith smiling again.

“But come on Buff… surely the best part about being with Faith, is the actual BEING with Faith!”

“That’s the point Xander, and if you took your brain out of your pants for more then a minute you might just get it…” She shook her head in exasperation at her friend. “…it’s not just about BEING with Faith like that… it’s about all of her, the way she makes me feel, the way that just standing next to her can get me so excited… make me feel so alive.” she stopped there, embarrassed to reveal her feelings so blatantly. But Faith did make her feel all of those things, all and more.

“I understand Buffy… I think waiting is nice, to be sure that ya both feel the same. Which I’m sure you do, but it’s still nice.”

“Thanks Will, it’s nice to have some support!”

Buffy was aware that her best friend and Oz were also waiting. Waiting for the right moment, for when they needed to be together. It gave her confidence that she was doing the right thing. All the time she had been spending with Faith without the sex..? It was perfect. Tense… yes, but also perfect.

She hadn’t missed the extra effort that Faith had been making, the attentiveness with which she looked to please her. It was always there. The way she always picked her up for slaying, came in and made nice with her mom. The way she would take her to see girly flicks at the cinema and didn’t complain at all. Admittedly she had fallen asleep a couple of times, but she was trying. It felt to Buffy that they were a real couple, they weren’t just fucking, they were falling in love. WERE in love.

She was also well aware that Faith was reaching breaking point. She had been moody for days, possibly bordering on weeks. When anyone asked what was wrong she just offered a clipped smile and said everything was ‘five by five’. It was kind of sweet in it’s own way. She hadn’t pressured Buffy though, and for that she was grateful… it helped her to feel sure, sure that it meant everything to Faith as it did to her.

“So are you waiting for a special occasion?”

“Xander… why ARE you so interested in my sex life?”

Faith arrived at that exact moment, fresh from her work out with Giles.

“Cos he hasn’t got one of his own?”

They looked up surprised at the newcomer, hadn’t been aware of her arrival, too lost in their own conversation. Xander flushed at the truth being spoken, looked to hit back with comments of his own.

“I didn’t think I was the only one Faith… tell me, how’s YOUR sex life going?”

The thunderous look that crossed her face was plain for all to see, but also was the way she reigned it in, the way she smiled sweetly at Buffy, the little wink she shot her way. “Everything fine here Xander…” she found a space on the sofa next to her girl, captured her lips in a full on kiss, exploding with obvious desire. “…nope, no complaints!”

Buffy’s eyes were shining with the same lust as Faith’s. It really was getting harder and harder to stick to her guns. Maybe she should be sure now, she felt sure mostly. Mostly sure. Most of the time. But she wasn’t sure that she was sure, and she wanted to be the surest.

“You wanna get out of here Faith? Come back to mine?”

“You got food?”

“I’ve got mom.”

“Sounds like a plan!”

They lifted themselves from the sofa, linked hands and turned to go, Faith remembering at the last minute that she had wanted to see someone else. “Just a minute B…” she turned her eyes to Willow. “…hey Red, where’s Oz today?”

“Oz?… He’s got practice tonight…” she looked at Faith, recognised the appeal that oozed from every inch of her body. Her voice was a little unsure as she sought to find out why Faith was wanting HER boyfriend. “…why ya wanting him? Can I give him a message?”

“Nah, don’t worry. I’ll catch him before slaying… he at the Bronze for practice?”

“No… Devon’s. You know where that is?”

“I know where everything is!” Her attention slipped back to Buffy, back to leaving.

“So why did ya want him?”

She rolled her eyes back to Willow, she knew what was going on, the girls obvious worry. It was cute. Wrong, but cute. “I just need some help with something Red, don’t sweat it…” She motioned her eyes to the joined hands of her and her sister slayer. “…B’s all the man I need, Oz is safe from my evil clutches.”

“I didn’t mean that!… I was just curious…”

“Sure you were.”

The slayers didn’t stay for more banter, they walked from the school into the daylight and made their way to Buffy’s house. Food was first on the menu, and then relaxing. Buffy did her homework whilst Faith did cartoons, then they did each other. Or they kissed each other. Buffy was too good at resolute to do more.

In the weeks since they had fought, things had progressed nicely for the girls. Wiping out the clan of vamps and their over weight leader had been easy when they worked together. Once the vampires had all been dusted the leader, or Balthazar, had simply dried out. They hadn’t needed to slay him, it had been amusing how long he could stay alive before he pruned out. Not long. Just a couple of nights.

Nothing else major was on the calendar, no apocalypses, no end of the world. Nothing except the prom and graduation was to be done before summer. It was a refreshing state of affairs. For everyone.

Buffy had plans for prom. Was hoping that Faith would ask her soon, had told herself that if Faith asked her to go together, then it truly meant she had accepted them as a couple. That she was her girl, no one else’s, just hers. In her head, on her own mental calendar, she had kind of marked down this date for them to be together. Again. But kind of like a first time. It had been so long she almost thought it would be their first time.

Faith also had plans for prom. She wasn’t a stupid girl, and she knew what kind of girl her girl was. The kind that got worked up about prom, the kind that wanted the picture perfect prom, the kind that wanted the romance, and the flowers, and the chocolates for prom. And definitely the kind of girl that would see it as special to give it up for prom! At least she hoped she was. At the moment Faith was just waiting to put her plan into action, she’d been thinking so hard on it, determined that everything would go right. She still had to ask Buffy to go with her… was waiting on a moment, the right moment.

Dusk was starting to fall now as they lay across the top of Buffy’s bed, not doing anything other then just being. Occasionally stopping the nothing to share a kiss or a conversation.

“You wanna think about motoring B? Make an early start on the patrol? I’m wicked itching for some action.”

“Wicked itching? Sounds painful.”

“You wouldn’t believe it.”

Buffy brought her face level with her partner, let her lips whisper across the others. “I think I might, definitely think I might.”

“So you ready to scratch now then?” she knew she wasn’t, couldn’t see the harm in asking.

“I’m ready to go slay.”

Faith rolled her eyes, showed mock desperation on her features that wasn’t really mocking. She WAS desperate. “Always about the work with you, always!”

Buffy claimed Faith’s lips in a harder kiss now, one which bore witness to the desire which SHE had pent up. Faith wasn’t the only one suffering. But it was for a reason. A valid reason. As the kiss finished she offered a full on smile. “Not ALWAYS about the work.”

Faith was lost in the smile, lost in the kiss. Just kind of lost. “Buffy… will you come to prom with me?” she hadn’t meant to say it, had been thinking it for days, had been waiting for a moment, guessed that maybe the moment was here. She looked up shyly now, something new for her. “If you wanted to I mean.”

“Go to prom with you? You wanna go to prom? With me?” she watched as Faith nodded slowly, confirming her words. “Wow… God… of course I do!”

“Really? You mean it?”

“More then mean it.” Buffy jumped from her bed and grabbed for her phone, excitement now her number one emotion.

“What ya doing? I thought we were going slaying?”

“We are Faith, I just need to call Willow…” She saw the look of confusion as it crossed the younger girls face. “…I just got asked to the prom! It’s a big deal… Willow would want to know!”

Faith just laughed. She had been right about Buffy, the prom was special to her… now she just had to make it more special, had to show her how much she meant! Because to her she meant everything.

It was only a week to go. One week until their senior prom. They were all excited and all for different reasons. Willow and Buffy were now trying on their dresses, in Willow’s bedroom, just being girls, talking about dates.

“So how are you getting there Buffy? Are you going with a limo, or is your mom gonna give you a lift?”

“Not a clue Wills… Faith wants to take care of everything, I think she’s being all chivalrous… intent on breaking my reserve.”

“And has she broken it… will it be a night for the old hot and sweaties?” she really was curious, in her own mind she’d been deciding if it was the right time to go that extra step with Oz. Hearing Buffy’s thoughts would maybe help to order hers.

“If the truth was known, she broke it ages ago… thing is? She’s so intent on whatever she’s been planning for prom that she forgot to keep asking!” She laughed at her friends look. “I know it’s hard to believe Wills, but seriously, she hasn’t put a move on me in ages… if it wasn’t so cute the way she’s preparing everything, I guess I’d be worried!”

“Oh god… she’s been spending loads of time with Oz… you don’t think…”

“No Willow!” she laughed again. “Oz is hot, I get that… but I can assure you Faith hasn’t been looking anywhere else for fulfilment, I’d know. She’d be able to sit still for maybe five minutes!”

Willow joined her in laughter, she hadn’t meant it anyway, just sometimes her head ran off on the funniest tangents, and then sometimes she spoke the tangent before she had even considered it. Yes, she did wonder why they had taken to spending time together… she’d asked Oz, but he had said it was Faith’s surprise, he couldn’t speak, even to her. It had her very curious… had her looking forward to prom.

“So what do ya think she’s got in store for you… and more to the point…” she offered Buffy a grave look. “…are you scared?”

“Ha ha! Haven’t a clue and no I’m NOT scared!” she admired her dress in Willow’s full length mirror. “What do ya think… you like it?”

“Holy wow! You look gorgeous Buffy, Faith won’t know what’s hit her!”

“That’s kind of the plan, I think.” She gave another twirl, checked all her curves from every angle. Faith was gorgeous, looked gorgeous in absolutely anything she threw on, and Buffy wanted to live up to that, wanted to look just as good, wanted Faith to want her. Wanted her to need her. “You sure this is ok? You really think she’ll go for it?”

“If she doesn’t… I will!”

Willow let out a laugh at Buffy’s expression. “Just kidding Buff, no need to freak out!”

“I’m not freaking… you just… surprised me for a minute.”

Now it was Willow’s turn to take part in the fashion show, allowing Buffy to see the full effect of her own dress. It too was beautiful, bought about words of admiration from Buffy.

“I guess Faith won’t be the only one getting their socks knocked off for prom.” she ran her eyes all over Willow’s figure, appreciated everything about it. “That dress is so good Wills… or so bad! Definitely working though.”

Willow accepted her friends words, surveyed herself again. She really did look good, even she could see it.

“So what about you and Oz then? You think prom’s the big night? Are ya feeling a tingle?”

“A tingle..?” her mind raced over everything that Oz made her feel, tingles were in there… more then tingles. “…yeah, I guess. But I still don’t know… it’s such a big step Buffy, what if I don’t like it?”

“Well… don’t you do other stuff?”

Willow’s face flushed red, she hated sex talk, it always embarrassed her. “Uh… other stuff? Like what other stuff?”

“Oh come on Wills… surely you hit the bases?”

“Yes… sometimes, and some of the bases, although I’m never quite sure what bases we’re hitting…” A thought suddenly occurred to her. “…how do you know what bases you’re hitting? I mean… with Faith, cos without ya know, the thing… well, what’s the bases?”

“Hell if I know Wills! And we did hit the home run pretty quick, I guess that made me forget about the bases.”

“Right…” She looked away pensive, as if she herself was trying to work out Buffy’s bases. Her eyes took on a dreamy expression, an expression people may have paid to understand. “…I just don’t know with Oz. You and Faith… I can see that. But me and Oz… I guess I’m still thinking on it.” She hoped that in a week she would have her answer.

They changed from their party dresses back into their street clothes and readied themselves to meet their friends. They were all down at the Bronze tonight, Oz was playing, the gang were hanging. Same old Friday. Same old fun.

Two days to go and Faith was shitting it. She’d never felt such responsibility to get something so right before. She just wanted it all to be perfect, from the minute she picked Buffy up, till the minute she put her back down, she wanted it to be perfect. The plan was to never put Buffy back down. To pick her up and keep her.

She’d been going crazy trying to think of ways to impress, had driven Giles AND Joyce crazy begging for inspiration. Had driven Oz to distraction constantly hounding him to get his part right. She’d even gone to Cordy for dress inspiration!

At first it had been the plan to crack her way back into Buffy’s pants, but after a while the plan had changed. Her feelings had changed. Or not changed, just become more. Being with Buffy was so fucking special to her, made her smile through every minute of every day, and she wanted Buffy to know that. More then anything she wanted Buffy to say the words again. To say that she loved her.

When the words had slipped out the first time it had been a shock, she hadn’t even got that far in her own head, was still in the physical… but hearing Buffy say them, and then hearing Buffy retract them. It hurt. And she wanted the pain to stop. She just wanted to hear that Buffy loved her, because she loved Buffy, and to her it was the most important thing in her world.

As the day crept quickly closer though, her mind had also wandered back towards the physical. Had reminded her constantly how good it had been to feel Buffy’s touch, how fucking great it had been to touch Buffy. Her body was screaming for a repeat, for something more, anything more then the chaste kisses which had become the benchmark for their relationship.

She looked across at her now, her head buried diligently in a book, her hair scraped up into a ponytail so as not to fall in her way. It pleased Faith, it meant that her view went unencumbered as well. She was aching to touch, aching to reach out and show Buffy just how much she meant to her, but she couldn’t, so she settled for letting her eyes drink in all that they could.

“Whatcha looking at Faith?”

“Huh?… Oh right, just looking at you B…” she offered her dazzling smile. “…wondering how I got so lucky.”

Buffy rolled her eyes in response but also smiled in return. “Flattery will get you everywhere!”

“Everywhere?” she ran her look slowly the length of Buffy’s body, lingering on every spot she wished to kiss, lingering on everything. “I like the sound of that B.”

“I bet ya do.” Her words came out halted, her body reacting to the feel of Faith on it, the feel of her gaze as it travelled her curves.

Faith tore her eyes away from the girl, had to. If she didn’t she would be on her, would drown out the sounds of Buffy’s protest to take what she needed so badly. She jumped up from her spot, folded her arms across her chest.

“Look, I think I’m gonna head out, it’s getting kinda late, and you’ve gotta get that book thing done…” She raised her arms and pushed out a yawn. “…and ya know I’m kinda tired, I think I’m just gonna take an early one.” She edged back towards the door. “I’ll give ya a call tomorrow, after school… ok?”

“Faith?”

“Yeah?”

“Get your ass over here!” She was trying not to laugh at Faith. It was SO cute watching her get antsy from the hornies. But that wasn’t an excuse to run out on her with no goodbye. Without a kiss to carry her through till morning.

Faith re-approached the bed slowly, she was scared. Crazy but true. This situation was new to her. Didn’t know how to crave so much and get so little. It span her head out, span all of her out.

“Surely you don’t think you’re leaving without a goodbye?”

“Uh… goodbye?”

“Nice try.” She lifted herself from her position on the bed, brought herself to her knees and met Faith face on. “Now how about my kiss goodbye?”

The quick peck that Faith offered her was never going to be enough. “Come on now… surely you’ve got more then that?”

“You want more then that B?” To Faith it felt like Buffy was teasing, was almost daring her to lose it, to just push her down and fuck her hard. Not gonna happen! Buffy may be getting as horny as she was, but she had a plan! Had dedicated much of her whole life recently to working the plan. “You want some of this maybe?”

This time she slid her hand up and around Buffys neck, brought her face to hers in a slow sensual meeting of tongues. Explored her mouth the way she wanted to explore her pussy, with everything she was. It was a breathless kiss, a kiss that when ended left them both stunned.

“That better B?”

“What?”

“Is that what you wanted?”

Buffy was staring into her eyes with harsh naked desire, so obviously wanting more, maybe ready to give more.

“I… I want you Faith.”

Buffy kicked herself, but the words had just fallen out. She did want Faith, every part of her wanted Faith, now. Not tomorrow, not prom. NOW.

“You want me B?” She let her hands travel back to Buffy, let them slide across her neck to her collar bone, followed that down to her chest, so lightly skimming, almost in wonder. “You want me like this?”

She crushed their mouths together, brought her arms around Buffy to draw her in closer, let their pelvises touch and slide into rhythm. Seconds of pleasure before she broke contact.

“Oh god Faith… yes, like that.”

“What about waiting B? What about being sure?”

Buffy WAS sure. Had never been surer of anything her whole life. “I AM sure Faith, I’m done waiting… I’m sure.”

The dark slayer let the words dance across her ears, let the meaning and sentiment seep into her heart. “You don’t know how much that means to me B…” she stepped slowly back, let just her fingertips linger against flesh. “…but not now. Not like this, not this time.”

She saw the confusion as it passed Buffy’s face, sought to reassure. “It’s not that I don’t want you Buffy, I never wanted anything more… but ya know?” she gave a little wink, a little bit of her. “I’ve got plans for my girl, plans to show her how special she is… how much she means to me.”

They both settled into a smile. Kissed a tender goodbye. As they parted it was like they were both holding their breath, both of them counting down, waiting for prom.

Faith was buzzing. Tonight was the most important night of her life. Meant more to her even then the night she was called, the night she found out she had purpose and destiny… all of that paled in the face of Buffy, in her feelings for Buffy.

She took a last glimpse around the motel room. It looked perfect, everything set up just as she wanted it. At first she had thought about expensive hotel, had thought she would need to impress Buffy that way… but then she remembered. Buffy had fallen for her, had not seen the need to dress her up as something she wasn’t, had just fallen for her. And she had spruced the room up, made it just perfect for a perfect night.

Outside her room was the limo. The size of it took her breath for a moment, and she felt instantly grateful for the help she had accepted in obtaining it. Joyce had made it happen, had given Faith odd jobs at the gallery, paying her the same as she would pay any employee. Had lent her the extra on top, saying that the summer was more then long enough for her to work it off. She certainly had feelings for more then one Summers woman these days. Joyce was wicked! Maybe the coolest mom ever.

She smiled her thanks at the chauffeur as he let her into the luxury of the vehicle, settling her dress around her so as not to get it crushed too bad. The dress had been a very special gift from a very special guy. Giles. He said he wanted to, that if she picked something out he would be happy to pay. She’d been embarrassed at first, didn’t wanna feel like a charity case… but then Giles had sat her down, had lectured her on love again, about wanting to help those that you cared about. She had gotten past embarrassed then, had settled simply for thank you.

The drive seemed to take forever, she knew it couldn’t, but it seemed to. She felt like each minute was slipping past so slowly, torturously denying her what she wanted most of all, but then she was there, and then it seemed too soon, like she wasn’t ready to face Buffy, wasn’t ready to be studied and be found wanting.

She didn’t have to knock on the door, Joyce was already there, camcorder in hand, muttering words like beautiful, and special, and lucky, and happiness. It all sped past her ears in a blur, she couldn’t listen, could only think about Buffy. And then all she could see WAS Buffy. Coming down the stairs, the most nervous of smiles dripped across her lips. She wanted to kiss them lips, she wanted to kiss and assure, to make the nervous leave forever. Buffy had nothing to be nervous about. She was in love with her. All of her.

“Wow Buffy… you look…” What was the word? Was there a word? “…you look perfect, absolutely beautifully perfect!”

From the smile on Buffy’s lips she guessed she had found the right words. But the smile wasn’t for the words. It was for Faith. Buffy was dumbstruck, she had never seen a vision so stunning standing within her view. Faith was gorgeous, she had always known it, always recognised it… but seeing it so bare before her? WOW!

Only one word could find it’s way from her lips, a repeat of Faith’s word. “Beautiful.”

“Beautifully perfect B.”

“No. You… you’re just…” she took her in again. From her hair piled up on her head, just a few tendrils daring to sneak free, to still give a nod to the wildness within. To her dress. It was a halter neck, exposing the soft skin of her throat, reaching down to scoop beneath breasts, tight in at the waist and then heading down with flowing freedom. And the shoes. Such dainty little shoes! Her toes were painted and peeping out from the edges, just little straps keeping it all together, finally meeting to encase a perfect ankle. All in white, all in contrast. “…beautiful.”

“Both of you are beautiful, now maybe we could pose for some snaps?”

They dutifully took their places in front of the camera, Faith sneaking a hand out to capture Buffy’s, caught forever in a Kodak moment.

Joyce saw them to the door, couldn’t keep in her smiles as Buffy caught sight of the limo for the first time. Her shock as she had looked to Faith and then to her. It made it all worth it, to see her daughters happiness? It made everything worth it.

“Have a great time girls, enjoy it… all of it.” She gave a little knowing grin now. She knew all about Buffy’s withholding, all about Faith’s plan to seduce her daughter. It had made her resume her belief in romance. She was proud that Buffy had wanted to wait until she was sure, and she was just as proud that Faith had given her the time. Now the time was here, she really did wish for them to enjoy it. “I’ll see you both tomorrow… I’ll make lunch?”

“Maybe dinner Mrs S?” Faith stole a glance at Buffy and produced the hungriest look that Joyce Summers had ever in her life seen, it almost knocked her back with it’s force.

“Right… dinner.” She tore her own eyes away, fixed back her mothers smile, and watched her girls get into their carriage. She couldn’t shake the feeling that they were both fairy princesses, off to make their own fairytale ending. She went to the kitchen and poured herself a small glass of wine, wondered if it wasn’t perhaps time that she found her own fairytale ending.

The girls in the limo had settled back with their fingers entwined, only the slightest of contact keeping them bound. “So tell me about the limo Faith, cos I wasn’t expecting it… was maybe getting used to the idea of walking in these heels, of mum dropping me off with a kiss to the forehead…” she offered a little squeeze of fingertips. “…but no, you blow me away with the worlds biggest limo… so fess up? How d’ya do it?”

“I’m secretly a rich heiress B, you’ve scored big time here girl… trust funds, inheritance… I’ve got it all.”

“Now the truth?”

Faith sighed a small sigh, to her it had sounded believable, kind of. “I worked. I asked your mom for advice, before I know it I’m stacking boxes ten to a dozen, moving all sorts of weird shit round, and losing all hopes of ever having a sleep in again.”

“Really?”

“Believe me… I wouldn’t joke about work.”

Buffy was lost in the feeling that Faith doing that for her produced. She liked to think of it as love. It was love.

“Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it B, really… I told ya I wanted to make you feel special, this is just the start.”

As the limo pulled up in front of the school, the girls prepared themselves to face the crowds. They weren’t scared or bothered, how could they be? They knew how right this was. In any case they needn’t have worried. No one gave them a hard time, not once. Maybe everyone just so thankful to the two beautiful girls that had done so much to keep them all safe.

They danced and they partied and they had the best time ever. All of the friends just happy to be together, to be having fun without the worry of their everyday lives. Even Cordy had found the time to be civil, to tell Faith how good her dress looked… what a good job she herself had done in picking it out.

They were scattered across the auditorium now. Oz was leaving the gang to make his way to stage, to join the Dingoes in a prom set spectacular. He’d learnt a new chord for the occasion, he’d also learnt a new song. He hadn’t been sure at first, had balked when Faith suggested what she had wanted… but as they had tried it, slipped some hard style into the common tune… then it had started to work, had made sense to him.

Willow had stolen Buffy away from her date to gain last minute words of best friendship before she set out on her nights own journey. She had decided that it was time, that her and Oz were ready to take the tumble. A tumble. Lots of tumbling. And she was nervous, and a bit scared… and kinda excited. She felt like she’d overdosed on coffee.

“Do you love him Wills?”

“You know I do Buffy… I’m just a little scared, like what if I don’t like it? What if the most special night of my life is the worst… what happens then huh?” She looked pleadingly at her friend, didn’t give her time to answer. “And what if I DO like it… like REALLY like it? I could turn into a nymphomaniac or something… a really dirty girl slut! How do I deal with that one Buffy?”

“You know what? You think too much!” She laughed as Willow nodded agreement. “Lets just get back out there and have fun… you love Oz, Oz loves you, if it’s meant to happen, it’s gonna happen, and if it’s meant to happen it’ll be great! Trust me… I’m a best friend!”

As they made their way back to the main hall Willow caught her boyfriend’s eye, he was up on stage, rocking it out, but still he was looking for her, couldn’t smile until his eyes had met hers. And she knew. Knew that she was sure.

Faith was hanging with Xander and his new ‘girlfriend’. Some freaky chick called Anya. She was pretty enough… but not so good with the bright. Kinda… different, like someone had just made her in a factory a few days ago and turfed her out onto the street. A couple of times she’d started stories with… ‘when I was a de… delinquent.’… or Faith’s personal favourite… ‘You eviscerate one man? You’ve eviscerated a thousand!’… yeah. She was definitely a scream.

She kept searching the crowd for Buffy, felt the loss of her presence, wanted it again.

“She’ll be here in a minute Faith, stop with the frantic already.”

“Sorry Xan, was you saying something?”

“No I was!” Freaky chick gave her a scolding stare. “I wanted to know how you pleasure a woman… is it better then pleasuring a man?”

Faith stood open mouthed, not much could shut her up… but some things.

“Because I really would like to know. Xander here looks like a good bet, but if a girl is better…” she ran her eyes over the ever shrinking slayer. “…I’m sure I could accommodate you.”

“Uh… right.” She turned her eyes to her friend. “Um… Xander?”

He just shrugged his shoulders. “Hey An… you wanna dance or something?”

“But what about this girl? She might have sex with me.”

He thrust his hand into hers, dragged her off towards the dance floor. He certainly knew how to pick them, that was for sure.

Faith stared after them, there was definitely something ‘off’ about the Anya chick. She’d have to look into it… or get Giles to look into it. She’d heard about Xanders luck with the ladies, would hate for him to be ensnared by another demon type. Her musings were broken into by the arrival of her girl. Her girlfriend.

“B… I missed ya.”

“I brought punch.”

“We both did!”

Faith laughed and held out her hands as she accepted refreshment from both Willow and Buffy. “Thanks guys, was I looking thirsty?”

“Looking hot!”

“Wills!”

“Sorry Buffy, but she is.” Willow giggled at her friends look, she didn’t mean anything by it… but Faith looked WOW! She’d never really looked at girls before, hadn’t wanted to, but since her best friend had become all enigmatic and stuff… well she found herself being curious. Just curious to know though. Nothing else. Nope.

“Thanks for the compliment Red, you want some warming up whilst your boyfriend’s away?”

Now she flushed the red to match her nickname. Wanted to say maybe. Just offered a shy grin. “No I’m fine… you just keep Buffy warm, ok?”

“Suits me sweetheart.”

They turned to face the stage as the music cut, as Oz made his way to the mike up front, adjusted his bowtie and cleared his throat. There was a few catcalls… a few moans for the loss of tunes, but then it quietened down. There was something about Oz that just commandeered respect.

Faith’s hold on Buffy went suddenly tight, death grip tight.

“Hey baby, what’s up?”

“Huh? Oh… nothing B, just I…” she didn’t get to finish her words though, Oz had found his and was addressing the crowd.

“Hey seniors!” An answering cheer was heard. “A quick break in proceedings to introduce a new song…” A comical ’Ooooooh’ rose up from the school. “…you might recognise the tune, but go with it.”

The band members produced the opening chords, the guitars screaming as they took up the sound. Oz leant in once more to the mike, smiled a wolfish grin. “For Buffy, from Faith… a song for her girl!”

“Oh my god… it isn’t?” Buffy turned to Faith, sought confirmation to what she already knew.

“Yep… all for you, a rocking version of the ‘Hokey Cokey!’” She laughed at the silliness of it all. “Do ya like it… did I do good?”

The smaller girl just shook her head, it sounded kinda good, funny as anything… and the seniors? They had looked at each other in bemusement, and then surely enough the class jokers had taken up the dance, were putting their bits in and out with as much gusto as was possible. Soon everyone was at it. Laughing, joking, having fun. Even Xander was desperately trying to explain to Anya the finer intricacies of what the Hokey Cokey was all about. He didn’t even come close.

Willow didn’t get it. Not a clue.

“You got Oz to revamp the Hokey Cokey for Buffy… why?”

The slayers laughed at what had been a private joke. “You want me to tell her B? You think it’s safe to tell her… she’s been acting kinda strange lately, what with the checking me out, you think it’s best to tempt her further?”

“Hey! I do not act strange!”

“Much.”

“I DO NOT!”

“Calm Wills, she’s only joking…” She leant in conspiratorially, whispered an explanation. “…it’s the Hokey Pokey, not the Hokey Cokey… it’s all about the fingers in, and fingers out… you get?”

She could see it working it’s way across Willow’s face. An understanding.

“Fingers in… fingers out… OH!” Willow looked to first one and then the other. “I get it.” She nodded slowly, eyes shining with something. “Definitely getting it.”

She turned and walked away then, forgot to say goodbye. She felt suddenly frisky, like hopefully the song would soon be over and she could sequester her boyfriend within her growing lust.

“I think ya shouldn’t have told her B… she looked spazzed.”

“No, she’s fine… probably just looking for Oz.”

They faced each other now, just the two of them, no more interruptions. “I really like the song Faith, thank you.”

“It’s nothing B, I just thought you might laugh at it, I like it when you laugh.”

Their eyes locked together, both of them sure. “I love you Faith, you know that right?”

“Really? You mean it?”

“Of course I mean it, I love you.”

Faith let out the breath she had been holding for the last few days, gasped for new air. “Thank fuck for that!”

“Huh?”

“Sorry, I just… I so wanted you to love me Buffy, I wanted to tell you I love you… god. I love you.”

They sealed the moment with a kiss, the beginning of their night. “What do ya say B? You wanna take a ride in my limo?”

“You think I’m that kinda girl Faith?”

“I KNOW that you’re that kinda girl, cos you’re MY girl.”

And they did take a ride in the limo, a ride to a motel, a room in a motel. The place they both wanted to be.

Buffy’s jaw dropped as she opened the door to Faith’s room. It was so different. The lacklustre appeal of the place lost under the candles and the fairy lights, amongst the romance of the situation.

“Oh my god… it’s…”

“All for you B, I meant it when I said I loved you.”

They made their way inside and shed their jackets, turned slowly to face each other, drank in the desire that was shining in both of their eyes. It was Buffy that took the step forward, ready to give herself to Faith again, to give all of herself.

“Show me how much you love me.”

Faith didn’t need asking twice, hadn’t needed asking once. She raised her fingertips to trace the outline of Buffy’s dress. Slowly slipped her fingers round to release the zip, to undo her prize. Stepped back as the dress slid from her shoulders, stepped back to admire, to draw in a breath.

“I love you.”

Her lips delicately met Buffy’s as she backed up her words with actions. Drew her tongue in to her mouth and softly sucked upon it, her hands reaching up to tangle in Buffy’s hair. Soft moans became the music to her ears, encouraging her onwards, to take the girl and possess her, to pour everything into her.

She let her fingertips wander down to travel across naked flesh, feeling as skin raised to meet her touch, everything was burning, she was burning. Her hands arrived at Buffy’s panties, slipped across the expanse of them, slowly teasing her touch beneath the barrier… taking the girls hitched breath as a reason to carry on. Nothing had ever mattered as much as this moment.

Buffy’s hands remembered that they had a purpose now, a score to even, a dress to dispossess. They found their way behind Faith’s back, to settle on the place where her dress came together at the base of her spine, felt more then heard the intake of breath, took her turn to release a zip, to take a step back and admire what was hers.

She couldn’t stand back long, she had to feel, had to run her hands across the breasts that arched out towards her, had to reacquaint her hands with the solid weight that rested so easily within them. She let her thumbs trace nipples, already erect, already straining. Let her grip grow tighter as she felt her lust growing.

She kissed her way hard down Faith’s neck, bit at the point where her pulse beat so strong, didn’t stay to kiss it better, instead travelled down, felt as her mouth closed around a hard aching bud, heard as Faith groaned into the touch.

“God B… that’s it…”

Her hands had already found purchase on the curves of Faith’s ass, were running across the silk of her panties looking to uncover the silk of her skin, testing the strength of the material that kept her from her goal. She broke her mouth away from it’s happy task to ask a question, didn’t need to wait for the answer.

“You weren’t too attached to these panties, were you?”

“Huh?”

And with that they were gone. Ripped away from Faith’s body, discarded without a thought, for being in the way. Buffy’s hands were delighting in the prize, kneading flesh as she ground her hips into Faith, letting the wetness that was rushing from Faith’s pussy mark it’s way across her still there panties.

“I wanna fuck you Faith, I wanna fuck you so bad…”

Faith reacted the only way she could think to, she wrapped her grasp around Buffy’s panties and tore them now from her flesh. “I guess that makes us even then.”

Their lips crashed into each other as they kissed their passion, teeth bumping, lips bruising, not caring. They fell back onto the bed, bodies crushing together, each of them wanting to touch every single bit of flesh, every part they hadn’t already claimed of the other, claimed as their own.

Sweat was building as they pressed their bodies tighter, slipping and sliding, delighting in everything they were doing, every point of contact. More though, they both needed more.

Like a reflection they found their way to the others hot centre, both letting out a harsh moan of desire at the wetness they found there.

“God B, you’re so fucking wet, I want you so bad… wanna feel your pussy tight around me, feel you cum for me…”

Buffy slid herself down onto Faith’s fingers, she wanted that too, wanted all of it. It was so good to have her again, to feel her inside of her, feel her pussy grasping as it fought to control the rhythm, felt it relaxing as it gave over to Faith’s expert touch. Her own fingers looked to mirror Faith’s, looked to slide their way inside the other girls own sweet pussy.

It really was so god damn wet, warm and moist, calling her in. She could feel Faith tense as she entered her, feel as her hips began to rock against her, the same as her own. Both of them fucking, both of them being fucked. They tried to keep kissing, tried to keep affirming with their mouths what they were feeling deep inside, but they couldn’t. As they both felt the need to fuck harder their lips broke away, gasped to keep oxygen flowing to their lungs, pushed out words to urge the other on, pleading for more, for harder, for everything.

They shuddered as they reached a crescendo, pushed through it, hands still trapped in the pace they had set, fucking harder and more, grasping hard to the other, determined to be as deep as they could, to fill up all the space, to exist in the other. They did crash their lips together now, needed it, they final thing to push them off, push them over. The edge reached and passed. Their lips as wild and crazy as their fingers below them. They tensed together, held together, nothing moving except the swiftness of their heartbeats, slowly gaining breath, a return to the here and now.

“Jesus Buffy…” Her breathing wasn’t enough for long words and speeches. Just enough for “…I love you.”

Buffy’s whole body was crackling with electricity, with the intensity of the moment she had just shared with Faith. “I love you too. Jesus as well…”

Her head was spinning, this was THE best moment of her life. Better then being picked up for slaying, and girly flicks, and limo’s and dresses and candles… and everything. Just the best.

“Can we stay here forever Faith?”

The dark haired slayer gazed adoringly at her girl. “Forever B? Only if you ring your mom and cancel the dinner!” Now she laughed, true happiness. It sounded great.

“You have to ruin my moment.” Buffy nudged her with her shoulder to emphasise her point. “And I can settle for staying till dinner… for now!”

They lay facing each other on the bed, losing selves in eyes, happily peaceful.

“You want a drink B? I even remembered refreshment.”

“You’re my hero.”

She smiled as Faith travelled across the room and into the bathroom, emerging with an ice bucket and glasses, and a rose clamped between her teeth. She mumbled something, something that Buffy had no hope of understanding.

“You what?”

The younger slayer spat the rose from her lips. “Shit that things got thorns!” They laughed together. “I said B… do ya want champagne?”

“Champagne? Is there anything you didn’t think of?”

Faith glowed with the grin that sat on her lips. “Just don’t tell your mom, I said I’d only be serving soft drinks!”

Her hands shook slightly as she poured the drink, emotions swirling through her system. She needed the champers to settle herself… it was going to be a long night. She watched as Buffy wrinkled her nose at the bubbles, pulled the cutest grimace. A very long night.

Sunday evening in the Bronze was almost as routine as Friday night. They always convened if they had the time, and today everyone was making the time. Prom had come, and prom had gone. A huge milestone passed, an occasion put behind them.

“So what’s the final verdict guys? Good prom, bad prom?”

They looked at Xander but each got lost in their own thoughts. Willow found the first response. “I’m gonna go good…” She stared her love at Oz. “…heading for greatness, resting on fantastic!”

“And Oz, my old hound dog… you concur with the lovely Miss Rosenburg?”

“The lovely Miss Rosenburg has my concurrence.” He returned the love flowing his way. He had it bad for a certain Miss Rosenburg, more then bad. College was coming and he couldn’t wait to go with her. The future looked good. He smiled a smile which for him was huge. “What about the slayers? You prom junkies?”

The two slayers eyes were locked into the other, had meant to be looking for the others confirmation on great prom, had got lost in the memory of it. Perfect was a word that kept making a reappearance. Faith finally broke away, looked to her little helper. “It was awesome Oz, and thanks for the help.”

“I liked the song.”

“I don’t get it.”

They turned to Xander, he was the last one out of the loop. “Don’t get what Xan… the obvious?” She ran her eyes over posture… just about clocked that something was different. “Or is it something else this time?”

He looked back confident, and she DID get it. Looked like freaky chick was also deflowering chick!

“The whole Hokey Cokey… not the other…” He looked a little embarrassed, not ready to spill. “…what’s the deal with the Hokey Cokey?”

The gang all looked to each other, teasing in their eyes. “I don’t know Xander, it’s pretty full on stuff… what do you guys think?” They took their lead from Willow, all agreed he could know when he was ready… when he could handle it. The joking didn’t impress him. He was almost glad when his new ‘girlfriend’ showed up to take the heat off.

She was kinda weird. Kinda… different. But he could dig that. She was one CRAZY chick in between the sheets, he didn’t even wanna know where she had learnt half of that stuff. He felt like there was more to her, that she was more then your average girl next door. Part of him was overexcited to find out what it was… the other half terrified.

“Xander… and other people not Xander, hello!”

“Hey An… my little love bunny…”

“You what?”

“Love bunny… it’s a term of endearment?” he didn’t know quite why she looked so panicked… maybe she was a girl not into love.

“Lust bunny?” That would be better, she was sure into lust! So why was she looking about herself so terrified?

“Bunnies… why do you keep mentioning bunnies?” She was frantically searching. Pushing back onto the sofa to move her feet from the floor.

“Hey calm it freaky chick!” Faith was the one whom she was edging back onto. “There’s no bunnies ok… none, I promise.”

Anya turned to look at her, placed her feet back on the floor. “Oh it’s you…” She then ran her eyes over Buffy. “…did you have good sex after the prom? You look like you’ve had good sex.” she waited patiently for her answer, determined to learn the polite ways of the human. She couldn’t believe she was stuck here in this dimension, her source of power stolen by a bleached blonde vamp claiming to be the big bad. She hadn’t heard from him since… had decided maybe he wasn’t so big and bad, maybe just a thief. Either way it stank. And she was stuck.

“Good sex..? Do you think about anything else?”

“Not really, I like money, but sex is often more instantly gratifying.” She leant forward as if sharing a confidence, didn’t lower her volume. “I meant what I said, about girls… if it’s better I’d be willing to try it with you.”

“Sorry sweetheart, it’s definitely better…” She dropped her hand to Buffy’s, pulled her up to find the dance floor. “But I’ve already got a girl of my own.” She shrugged her shoulders in apology, dragged Buffy off to hunt the bass.

“I thought you said sharing was good Xander…”

“I meant popcorn in cinemas, not crazy sex…”

The slayers laughed as they made their way to centre of the floor, the girl really was mad! Fun… maybe, but mad definitely. They hoped she stayed around for a while, Xander was at a loose end without something to do next year, maybe taming Anya would be the perfect thing.

They danced their way through all of the fast songs, wrapped themselves together to sway to the slow ones. Eyes penetrating deep into the other.

“You ok Faith?”

“Perfect. You?”

“Yep.”

Their lips closed softly together as they found themselves kissing on the dance floor. They hadn’t meant to, just got lost in a feeling. As they broke away to return to their friends, sit out the last few minutes of music, they whispered the words that reaffirmed love.

It had been a crazy year since Faith had come to Sunnydale. So much was different now, for each and every one of them. At the beginning Faith had felt like the explorer telling them of un-chartered worlds, of new things to discover. And now they’d all had their own journeys, had their own experiences shining behind their eyes.

They all relaxed back into sofas as they hoped to relax into summer. A year over and done with, all waiting to see what the next one would bring.

The End
